Roofing slates Technical:
Roofing Slates are produced from a natural material, each slate having its own unique visual characteristics.
Fixing:

The roof should be properly marked out prior to any slates being fixed and all slating work should be in accordance with the latest editions of BS 5534 and BS 8000: Part 6 1990 specifications.

Natural Roofing Slate:

The Slate is split by hand, and individually dressed and should be treated as an individual unit when being fixed on the roof.

One slate may suit a particular location on the roof better than another - perhaps for reasons of thickness, natural curvature, surface texture or appearance.
The Colour of Slate:
is determined by the chemical and mineralogical composition of the slate being quarried. Since these factors differ in various localities, it is possible to obtain slates in a variety of colours and shades.
All Slate will weather to a degree and after time will show a surface difference in the Colour tones. When the change is slight, the Colour is classified as permanent or “unfading”. If the final results are more evident, the colours are classified as weathering or fading.
That is why Roofslates.com will not cover or Guarantee against colour change or fading for any Slate.
Roofslates.com will Guarantee Wastage: of NO MORE THAN 3% - with The Windsor Grade 1. Natural Slate.
